My mom was first diagnosed with breast cancer at 50. Eight years later, she was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer, and she passed away at 60.
That loss changed how I saw everything.
​
I couldn’t stop thinking about what she might have done differently if she’d known she only had eight good years left — and what that meant for how I was spending my own. I realized I didn’t want to live a life that looked successful on paper but felt empty in reality.
So, I did the hard work to understand why I was unhappy — and what I was willing to change.

By June of 2024, I had done just that. I got divorced, sold my house, downsized, helped my kids launch into their own lives, was formally diagnosed with ADHD, and resigned from the COO role I had spent my entire career working toward.
​
What I discovered through that process is that overwhelm doesn’t have to be the norm. The “old-school” leadership approach — the one that says “leave your personal life at home” — isn’t sustainable. It breeds disconnection, exhaustion, and disengagement.
​
True leadership starts with people.
When leaders can show up authentically, vulnerably, and with empathy, they create workplaces that people love — and that love translates directly into better outcomes for organizations, patients, and families.

Now, my mission is to help healthcare organizations build leaders who are people-focused first. Because when you put people first, success always follows.
How I Got Here.
"Milestone" birthdays never bothered me - until 2023, when I was approaching my 50th birthday. The closer I got to my birthday, the more I realized how truly unhappy I was. I could barely get out of bed on weekends, binging TV shows, sleeping, and hiding from the world, including myself. I found myself itching to get home to have that glass of bourbon after work every night. "This cannot be all there is in life," was the thought that was on repeat in my brain.
